Heavy
I’ve been trying to figure out how to write this post for hours. I’ve had the window up, silently reminding me that I wanted to blog, nagging at me while I ignore it by focusing on my actual work. Isn’t that funny? So many times I blog instead of working, here I was working instead of blogging. I guess it’s hard for me to think of how to start this one. So I type a line, delete it one letter at a time and try to think of a new way to say it. I have so much to say… [Full Post]
2010: Ordinary Joy
Ordinary Joy. Our most profound joy is often experienced during ordinary moments. What was one of your most joyful ordinary moments this year? (Author: Brené Brown) I’ve had several really good moments but the one that stands out to me most, and maybe because it was so recent, was recently when the kids slept over at my house. I don’t remember what we were talking about, but somehow it got around to Esther talking about singing in some Christmas presentation in kindergarten. I have attended a lot of Esther’s school functions but I didn’t remember going to that one. I… [Full Post]
2010: New Name
New Name. Let’s meet again, for the first time. If you could introduce yourself to strangers by another name for just one day, what would it be and why? (Author: Becca Wilcott) When I was younger, I used to wish I had a different name. I didn’t like my name at all. I’m not sure why. When I was in middle school, some friends told me I looked like a Becky. I don’t really know how a person looks like one name or another, but haven’t you ever seen someone and just thought, “That person looks like a Todd. I… [Full Post]
2010: Future Self
Future Self. Imagine yourself five years from now. What advice would you give your current self for the year ahead? (Bonus: Write a note to yourself 10 years ago. What would you tell your younger self?) (Author: Jenny Blake) Dear Debi, Don’t give up. xoxo, Debi It’s the same letter for both. That’s all I’ve ever needed to remember and everything else falls into place. (And before you laugh and call this a cop out, I re-wrote this three times and realized I could sum it all into one sentence. I call that efficient.)
2010: Friendship
Friendship. How has a friend changed you or your perspective on the world this year? Was this change gradual, or a sudden burst? (Author: Martha Mihalick) You know, all of my friends change me on a regular basis. We are all different, we come from different backgrounds and even now we all live at different stages of our lives. Different groups of friends were brought together by different things; some of those groups were brought together by just one single common interest. And through that, friendships were born; relationships created that teach me and help me learn so much. Our… [Full Post]
2010: Appreciate
Appreciate. What’s the one thing you have come to appreciate most in the past year? How do you express gratitude for it? (Author: Victoria Klein) So.. I like this one. A lot. Except for the part where it says “one” thing. One. ONE?? Just one thing? Ok this is harder than I thought. Before I get to my one thing, I have to say this reminds me of last year before Thanksgiving when I participated in tweeting/facebooking one thing every day that I was grateful for. See, that way I got to say lots of things. This one is one… [Full Post]
2010: Wisdom
Wisdom. What was the wisest decision you made this year, and how did it play out? (Author: Susannah Conway) So.. the wisest choice I made this year was simply to be happy. Instead of dwelling on things from the past, what-might-have-been’s, and how I was wronged or made a bad choice, I decided to let things go and be positive. Being happy is a choice, a conscious decision. Things do not always go my way and this year has been proof that. I can’t control those events, but I can control myself and how I react to them. There is… [Full Post]
2010: One Word
So.. I won’t be doing this every day, I am sure. But Reverb 10 is a way to reflect on the last year, which everyone loves to do. Or at least they do it anyway. This one was supposed to be done yesterday. Oh well. One Word. Encapsulate the year 2010 in one word. Explain why you’re choosing that word. Now, imagine it’s one year from today, what would you like the word to be that captures 2011 for you? (Author: Gwen Bell) I think the one year that describes 2010 would be Growth. I have done so much growing,… [Full Post]
