Fence

fence_after

As you could see in the photos from this post, my back fence was in serious need of repair. Serious. Need. I’m one of those people who if I do one part, I just want to do the whole thing. This is problematic because often the whole thing costs a whole lot and I’m quite poor. I was trying to figure out when I can replace all the fencing on my property because it all needs to be replaced, but this section obviously needed it the most. I kept thinking “next storm, that thing is coming down.” Well, Tuesday there… [Full Post]

Weekend Update III

IMG_2264

This weekend my extremely hard-working brothers came over to help me demolish the old deck. Remember back in April I started working on the back yard, killing weeds etc.. and that weed killer sure is awesome because I only have a handful of weeds/grass trying to sprout back (I’ll be heading back out this week to spray them away!). Anyway, the deck has been bad and getting worse, basically falling apart in front of my very eyes. It was getting to the point where I was afraid one of the dogs would get hurt by a broken board or getting… [Full Post]

Weekend Update II

IMG_1480

I spent another weekend killing my back yard and I’m making some real progress. Despite having a rash on my neck and cheek (went to the doctor today, will get more info tomorrow but it looks like an allergic reaction to something, possibly from the yard), I worked at cutting down every bit of weeds in the yard. I also pulled up several very gnarly and ridiculous rose bushes. I still have a few tree stumps I need to remove – think I’ll need to rent a stump grinder for that one of these upcoming weekends. Here are the before… [Full Post]

Weekend Update

IMG_1436

This weekend was the first truly beautiful weekend of the year and I spent much of it outside doing a little “light” weeding. Before: After: Before: After: Before: After: I still have several weekend’s worth of work to do – including finishing removing all those weeds (I think I’ll rent a tiller), finding the current piping for plumbing and installing sprinklers and drip systems, demolishing current deck and installing the new one, installing fencing for the dog run/area, laying sod and planting my garden/plants. I’m exhausted already. My goal is to at least make the backyard somewhat functional for this… [Full Post]

Back To Normal

I took my Christmas tree down the day after Christmas. The general response to this was as if I was the Grinch, but I do have two very valid reasons for de-Christmasing my house “so soon.” With Christmas being on a Saturday, the day after was a full day off work I could dedicate to taking down all the decorations, packing them up and putting them away. If I didn’t do it Sunday, I would have had to wait til this upcoming weekend – which really wouldn’t be so bad, except had the weather cooperated I was supposed to have… [Full Post]
