Buttermilk Biscuits
I decided to try a new biscuit recipe and this one from The Pioneer Woman is great! It’s fast to make, tastes great and you can freeze some for later.
Here’s another favorite – chowder. I have been trying to find a recipe for cheesy chowder that I tried 8 years ago, and this one came pretty close. It’s another great slow cooker recipe and it tastes amazing.
I love chili! I especially love Wendy’s chili, but I am trying not to eat fast food much anymore (for health AND financial reasons). So I decided to make up my own version of this chili and I think it turned out pretty good. I cooked this in the slow cooker and came home to the most delicious smell!
Pumpkins are not just for fall. I love this pumpkin bread for breakfast with a little bit of sweet cream butter.
I only tried artichokes for the first time a year or two ago. Artichokes kind of get a bad rap and most people only seem to eat them in spinach dip with tons of cheese. But, cooked right – and with a good dipping sauce – artichokes can be really tasty.
I have a lot of favorites but Chinese take-out is one of my biggest weaknesses. I’ve read the articles, seen the lists of bad ingredients but the fact at the end of the day is: it tastes so good so I eat it. I’ve searched for recipes for some of my favorite dishes and tweaked them so I can still eat what I want but spend less money and (sometimes) eat it healthier. Some of them, like this one, you can choose if you want to fry the chicken or not. Deep frying the chicken will make it more like what you get in take out, but it tastes just as good if you grill the chicken before adding to sauce.
I am always looking for new recipes that include steel cut oatmeal and this is a good one. It makes a nice hearty breakfast, perfect for a cold winter morning.
I made this for my family for dinner on Sunday. I had intended to use some of the leftovers for a few other recipes including a really good hash. Only problem? There were no leftovers. Not of the corned beef and not even any of the veggies. Guess that’s what happens with my family! But, corned beef doesn’t have to be just for St. Patrick’s Day.. I’m definitely making this again. The slow cooker makes it so easy.
